The Shadows of Kok Thlok. Documentary film. 2020. 16’.

Short synopsis: Phnom Penh, Cambodia. At the house of director, playwright, Khmer Rouge Tribunal interpreter Phoeung Kompheak, the Kok Thlok shadow puppet theatre troupe reinvents a sacred art form lost in the country's recent history: Sbaek Thom. With up to two meters tall puppets chiselled and painted on cow skin, they rehearse their version of the Reamker, Cambodian foundational story of the fight between good and evil.
